Numb is a duo made up of Pablo Cruz and Rodrigo Barquera.

Together they have put out an array of releases, graphic works and collaborations for several collectives in the mexican underground soundscape. In recent times, they have also done visual collaborations, infusing dark atmospheric sounds with a cinematic twist, into the poetics of contemporary ambient music.

Numb synthesize their recent explorations that involve meditative, neoclassical avantgarde sounds blended with syncopated yet consistent rhythms; not so far away from industrial or even modern IDM, like the dissolved drifts of concrete music and broken beats: each track giving us the sentiment of the duo maturing and developing a more conscious position as sound designers and music creators.

Their new album represents the recent years for Numb and summarizes the explorations of the duo. While the track “Make meal amongst enemies” was part of the Caósmosis sound installation for Coaxial Los Angeles curated by Otono, and “Live like 9-5, I rhyme and come alive” appeared on another compilation, they now evolve with new sounds that are the consequence of processes based on the influence of brutalist architecture, synesthesia, cut-up techniques of the multidisciplinary kind and visual elements translated into rhythms that come from the deep and cinematic soundscapes layered by the duo. Cutup Cinema sees Numb bring together unedited works that consolidate their most unique sound to date.

Numb es un dúo conformado por Pablo Cruz y Rodrigo Barquera.

Juntos, han reunido una colección de lanzamientos, trabajos gráficos y colaboraciones para varios colectivos del panorama underground mexicano. En tiempos recientes, también han hecho colaboraciones visuales, infundiendo sonidos de atmósferas obscuras con un giro cinemático, en la poética de la música ambient contemporánea.

Numb sintetiza sus exploraciones recientes que involucran sonidos meditativos y del avantgarde neoclásico combinados con ritmos sincopados pero consistentes; no tan lejos de la música industrial o el IDM moderno, como las corrientes de la música concreta y los broken beats: cada tema dándonos el sentimiento de que el dúo está madurando y desarrollando una posición más consciente como diseñadores sonoros y creadores musicales.

El nuevo álbum, representa los años recientes para el Numb y resume las exploraciones del dúo. Mientras que el track “Make a meal amongst enemies” fue parte de la instalación sonora Caósmosis, curada por Otono para Coaxial Los Angeles, y “Live like 9-5, I rhyme and come alive” apareció en otra compilación, ahora evolucionan como nuevos sonidos que son la consecuencia de procesos basados en la influencia de la arquitectura brutalista, la sinestesia, técnicas de cut-up en estilos multidisciplinarios y elementos visuales traducidos en ritmos que vienen desde las capas sonoras profundas y cinemáticas, hechas por el dúo. Cutup Cinema ve a Numb reunir trabajos inéditos que consolidan su sonido más profundo y más único hasta la fecha.
